Driver arrested for DUI after nearly hitting firefighter in Lyndonville

LYNDONVILLE — A 40-year-old man from St. Johnsbury was arrested following an incident in Lyndonville today.

Police say they were investigating an unrelated crash at the intersection of Memorial Drive and Back Center Road at around 2:05 a.m.

While troopers were investigating the crash, they observed a white truck drive past two cruisers and one fire truck displaying emergency flashing before running over a traffic cone and nearly striking a Lyndonville firefighter in a reflective suit.

Police identified the driver as Zachary Drown.

They say Drown displayed indicators of impairment.

Drown was arrested for suspicion of DUI and gross negligent operation, and was transported to the St. Johnsbury barracks for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in court at a later date and time.
