GEORGIA — A Milton man is facing charges after a violent altercation at a Georgia quarry, according to a report by the Vermont State Police.

The incident, which occurred at Harrison Concrete on Highbridge Road (104a) on July 6, involved two men known to have a contentious relationship.

The accused, 31-year-old Douglas “Bert” Duffy, and the victim, 54-year-old Jay Soutiere of Westford, encountered each other while hauling aggregate material from the site.

Authorities say Duffy maneuvered his dump truck to block Soutiere from exiting the truck scale area. He then allegedly exited his vehicle, assaulted Soutiere by punching him in the face while Soutiere remained in his truck, causing visible injury.

After the assault, Duffy reportedly got back in his truck and left the area.

Today, Duffy was issued a citation to appear in Franklin Superior Court, Criminal Division, on August 29.

He is facing charges of simple assault and disorderly conduct.
