Man faces third DUI charge after Dummerston crash

DUMMERSTON — A man from Keene, New Hampshire, is facing his third DUI charge after crashing his vehicle into a ditch on US Route 5, near Dutton Pines State Park, according to Vermont State Police.

Joseph Collins, 58, was operating a 2018 Ford Explorer when he veered off the road at approximately 8:57 a.m. Sunday.

He was transported to Brattleboro Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation. Collins was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash and sustained no injuries.

According to police, the crash resulted in minor damage to his vehicle.

Investigation revealed that Collins was under the influence of alcohol.

Collins was given a citation and conditions of release to appear at the Superior Windham County Court – Criminal Division on June 28 to answer to the charge of DUI #3 refusal.

The weather was sunny and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash.

The incident remains under investigation.
