Driver charged with DUI after crash in South Burlington

BURLINGTON — A 45-year-old man from Jeffersonville was arrested following a crash in South Burlington early this morning.

The single-vehicle crash took place on Interstate 189 at around 2:40 a.m.

The vehicle was seen off the road on its roof and the driver had fled the scene.

Police say they searched the immediate area and located the driver hiding in the dense shrubbery on the side of the road.

The driver was identified as Justin Roome.

While speaking with Roome, police say they detected several indicators of impairment.

He was arrested for suspicion of DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.

He was transported to the UVM Medical Center for evaluation and was later released with a citation to appear in court on July 13 to answer to DUI and LSA.
