Woman sexually assaulted in her St. Johnsbury home

ST. JOHNSBURY — A sexual assault reported Thursday afternoon is currently under investigation by the Vermont State Police.

The incident reportedly occurred around 4:50 p.m. on June 22 at a private residence on Hillside Avenue in St. Johnsbury.

The victim, whose identity is being withheld due to Vermont State Police policy on sexual assault cases, told investigators an unknown man entered her home, threatened her, and sexually assaulted her before fleeing the premises.

The assailant is described as a white male in his mid to late 30s, about 6 feet tall with an average build, and having dark hair along with a short beard and mustache.

At the time of the incident, he was dressed in blue jeans and a solid green T-shirt.

Authorities are requesting anyone with information, or who noticed suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident, to contact the St. Johnsbury VSP barracks at 802-748-3111.
