Rutland woman accused of assault at local inn

RUTLAND — A local woman was accused of simple assault at the Cortina Inn late Thursday night, according to the Vermont State Police.

Kiersten Groesbeck, 20, of Rutland Town, allegedly caused pain and/or injury to Bailey Allen, 23, of Rutland City.

Troopers responded to reports of an active fight at the inn, located on 476 Holiday Drive, at approximately 10:17 p.m.

Through their investigation, officers identified Groesbeck as the accused.

She was subsequently issued a citation and is scheduled to appear at Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, on August 7, 2023, at 10:00 a.m.

This incident continues to be under investigation and additional information will be released as it becomes available, police say.
