ST. GEORGE — A 26-year-old Fairfax man is facing multiple charges including domestic assault, interfering with access to emergency services, and unlawful mischief following a family fight in St. George, according to the Vermont State Police.

On the afternoon of June 16, authorities responded to a domestic disturbance call at a residence on Hemlock Road.

Upon arrival, they found that Wayne Butchino allegedly caused bodily injury to a family member in the presence of children.

Butchino also reportedly attempted to prevent the family member from contacting law enforcement and later caused damage to a parked vehicle.

Butchino had fled the scene by the time law enforcement arrived, and subsequent attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.

However, contact was later made with Butchino’s attorney, who accepted a citation on his behalf to appear in the Chittenden County Court Criminal Division.

The Vermont State Police have not released the name of the victim due to the domestic nature of the incident.
