Driver charged after damaging property, fleeing in Chittenden

CHITTENDEN — A 34-year-old woman from Vermont was cited for leaving the scene of an accident in Chittenden on June 6.

The crash took place on Chittenden Road at around 8:45 a.m.

According to the report, a vehicle drove off the road, onto private property, and struck a lilac bush and a wooden post and rail fence, causing significant damage.

Following an investigation, police identified the driver as Lena Herchenroder, of Rutland.

Police say she left the scene of the accident and did not report the damage, nor exchange information.

Troopers located Herchenroder shortly after and she was issued a citation to appear in court on July 17 to answer for the charge.
