Deer causes DUI crash taking out power lines in Pittsford

PITTSFORD — A 54-year-old man from Pennsylvania was arrested for DUI following a crash in Pittsford on Tuesday.

The single-vehicle crash took place on US Route 7 at around 9:05 p.m.

Police identified the driver as Christopher Sepaniak, of Erie, PA.

According to the report, Sepaniak was traveling south when he observed a deer in the road and swerved to avoid striking it.

He left the road via the west shoulder, striking a power pole and causing power lines to block the entirety of US Route 7.

Police say they observed several indicators of impairment and screened Sepaniak for DUI.

He was taken into custody for driving under the influence and transported to the Rutland City Police Department for processing.

He was released with a citation to appear in court at a later date and time.
