FAIR HAVEN — A federal grand jury returned a four-count indictment against John Muzzy, 32, and Rebecca Ross, 39, both of Fair Haven, yesterday.

Muzzy is charged with three counts of distribution, and aiding and abetting the distribution of cocaine base, and one count of being a user of unlawful controlled substances in possession of a firearm.

Ross is charged with one count of distribution of cocaine base.

Muzzy’s arraignment is set for June 2, 2023, while Ross will be arraigned on June 5, 2023, both before Magistrate Judge Kevin J. Doyle.

The indictment follows an investigation initiated in September 2022, when a confidential source informed the Vermont Drug Task Force (VDTF) of their ability to purchase cocaine base from Muzzy.

On two occasions, the source purchased cocaine base directly from Muzzy.

A third transaction took place in May 2023, where the source purchased the drugs from Ross, who declared herself the “businesswoman.”

On May 19, 2023, VDTF executed a search warrant at the Fair Haven residence where Muzzy and Ross resided.

The search yielded approximately 20 firearms and a quantity of cocaine base.

Muzzy, found in a vehicle on the property with cocaine base and two firearms, admitted to drug use and ownership of the contraband.

Ross, also arrested during the search, confessed to drug distribution.

U.S. Attorney Nikolas P. Kerest praised the efforts of the Vermont Drug Task Force, Vermont State Police, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Fair Haven Police Department in the investigation of Muzzy and Ross.
