Hinesburg man arrested on multiple warrants, DLS

BURLINGTON — A Hinesburg man was arrested early in the morning today after a traffic stop revealed he had active warrants for his arrest and was driving with a criminally suspended license.

Troopers were patrolling on I-89 in South Burlington around midnight when they noticed a vehicle exceeding the speed limit.

They conducted a traffic stop and identified the driver as 53-year-old William Smith of Hinesburg.

Further investigation showed Smith had active warrants linked to a second DUI offense. He was also found to be driving with a criminally suspended driver’s license and provided false information to law enforcement.

Smith was arrested and processed at the Williston State Police barracks before being transported to the Northwest State Regional Correctional Facility.

He was issued several citations to appear in Chittenden County and Franklin County Superior Courts.
