RUTLAND — A Danby man is facing charges after he reportedly walked away from a construction job without completing the work, according to the Vermont State Police.

The incident began on March 13, when Troopers responded to a reported fraud in West Rutland.

Timothy Rice, 26, of West Rutland, claimed that his contractor, William Kapusta, 54, of Danby, had completed only a portion of the construction work on his home before leaving the job.

Further investigation revealed that Kapusta had departed the job with a substantial amount of money and had not returned to complete the work.

Following the investigation, Kapusta was located and cited to appear in court on charges of false pretense or token.

Anyone with additional information related to this incident is encouraged to contact Trooper Steven Schutt at the Rutland Barracks.
