Rutland man arrested on outstanding warrant for aggravated assault

RUTLAND — A Rutland man was arrested in Fair Haven yesterday after he failed to appear in court for previous charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, Fair Haven Police said.

Matthew W. Hill, 40, was apprehended on Main Street at 5:45 p.m.

He was wanted on an arrest warrant issued by Judge John Pacht of the Chittenden District Court.

The warrant was issued after Hill did not attend a court session on May 15 related to his prior charges.

Following his arrest, Hill was lodged at the Marble Valley Correctional Center.

The arresting officers were Ptl. Chris Devito and Ptl. Cheri Mcdermott of the Fair Haven Police Department.
