Two-car crash on I-89 in Sharon leads to temporary shutdown

SHARON — A two-car crash on I-89 north in Sharon led to a temporary shutdown of the northbound side of the interstate today.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident in the area of Mile Marker 14.4 at around 4:00 p.m.

One of the vehicles involved caught on fire.

The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries resulting from the crash.

The operators of the vehicles were identified as Jillian Holland, 30, of Burlington, and Casey Kimball, 32, of Waterbury.

Both were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, police say.

Holland’s vehicle sustained total damage, while Kimball’s vehicle suffered rear-end damage.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
