NEW BEDFORD — Local authorities have arrested six individuals in connection with a drug distribution operation running from a troubled residence in the south of town.

On Tuesday, May 16, narcotics detectives executed a raid warrant at a second-floor apartment on 33 Crapo Street.

The operation was aimed at 37-year-old Alex Marabuto and 24-year-old Demaurice Andrews, but also resulted in the arrests of four other individuals.

Despite the challenging conditions inside the apartment, a search led to the discovery of crack, 19 Suboxone strips, a digital scale, and packing materials, in addition to .410 caliber shotgun shells.

All six individuals face various charges, including possession to distribute class “B” substances and conspiracy.

“This case highlights the variety of dangerous situations officers face on a daily basis. Hopefully, these arrests will greatly contribute to restoring peace to the neighbors of this residence,” said Chief Paul Oliveira
