Single-vehicle crash claims life in Lowell

LOWELL — A single-vehicle crash resulted in a fatality on Hazen Notch Road in Lowell, according to the Vermont State Police.

The incident occurred today at around 2:40 p.m. and involved a 2003 Ford Ranger.

The driver, Shayne Bessette, 52, of Lowell, was driving eastbound on Hazen Notch Road before losing control of the Ford Ranger.

The vehicle then moved into the westbound shoulder and rolled over, coming to a rest approximately 50 feet from the roadway.

Bessette was ejected from the vehicle during the rollover, and sustained fatal injuries.

Police say preliminary findings suggest there were other motorists in the vicinity at the time of the crash.
