Sexual assault allegations lead to arrest of Lowell Graded School substitute teacher

LOWELL — Jesse Waldenville, a 41-year-old resident of Lowell, was arrested by the Vermont State Police for allegedly committing sexual abuse against a teenage girl.

Waldenville faces six charges, including four counts of sexual assault, one count of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one count of lewd and lascivious conduct with a child.

The investigation by the Vermont State Police began on Wednesday after Waldenville voluntarily arrived at the Derby Barracks to speak with a trooper.

As detectives delved into the case and conducted interviews, they discovered that Waldenville, who worked as a substitute teacher at Lowell Graded School, had sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl on multiple occasions throughout this month.

Following Waldenville’s arrest, he was remanded to jail without bail.

His arraignment is scheduled for 12:30 p.m. tomorrow in the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court located in Newport.

As the investigation into this incident continues, authorities say they have not ruled out the possibility of additional charges.
