Police ID shooting victims in Brookfield, death ruled homicide

BROOKFIELD — The Vermont State Police have ruled that the shooting that occurred in Brookfield on Friday was a homicide.

The Chief Medical Examiner’s Office determined that the cause of death for the victim, Juan Sierra, 27, of Springfield, Massachusetts, was a gunshot wound to the torso.

The man who was wounded in the shooting, Miguel Fuentes, 29, also of Springfield, is still hospitalized.

A preliminary investigation indicates the two men are friends who traveled together to Vermont.

They were shot outside the home at 8769 Vermont Route 14.

The Vermont State Police are actively investigating the incident, and are encouraging anyone with information to call the Royalton Barracks at 802-234-9933.
