Colchester man charged with stabbing

BURLINGTON — A 19-year-old man from Colchester was arrested for assault following a stabbing that took place in Colchester yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a stabbing in the parking lot behind 781 College Parkway at around 7:25 p.m.

Responding officers located a man from Colchester with a laceration approximately three inches in length to the abdomen.

Witnesses led officers to a man who had been hiding behind a nearby building identified as Donovan McSweeney.

Police say the victim andm McSweeney were known to each other.

A knife was recovered at the scene.

The victim was transported to UVM Medical Center by St Michael’s College Rescue.

Police say his condition is unknown at this time.

McSweeney is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow in Vermont Superior Court in Burlington on charges of aggravated assault.

Police say they are still investigating this incident.
