MOULTONBOROUGH — Police are seeking the public’s help in identifying a vehicle and driver involved in an incident that occurred in Moultonborough yesterday.

The incident took place on Lee Road, in front of The New Woodshed restaurant, at around 5:10 p.m.

Police say the video shows a couple walking on Lee Road with their dog, when a black four-door pickup truck drives by them at a high rate of speed heading towards Governor Wentworth Highway.

The couple, upset about the vehicle’s speed, gestured for the vehicle to slow down.

The vehicle then stopped a short distance up the street and then backed up at a high rate of speed going into the opposite lane of traffic and aiming the vehicle directly at the couple.

The couple, seeing and believing that they were about to be hit, moved quickly out of the way, causing the male individual to fall to the ground, suffering minor injuries.

As the vehicle was backing at a high rate of speed towards the couple, the driver lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole, causing significant damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle and to the utility pole.

Police say the vehicle then fled the scene heading towards Governor Wentworth Highway.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Master Patrol Officer Jonathan Michalski at the Moultonborough Police Department at 603-476-2400.
