BURKE — A 25-year-old man from Orleans was cited for leaving the scene of an accident in Burke this morning.

Authorities say they were notified of a single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Vermont Route 5A and Newark Street at around 6:50 a.m.

Police say they observed the vehicle, a 2018 Toyota Rav4, abandoned in a field after it struck an electrical pole and a town sign.

Troopers were later able to meet the driver, identified as Brandon Rodd, at his home.

Police say Rodd was issued a citation for leaving the scene of an accident, due to his failure to stop and render any assistance reasonably necessary.

He will appear in court on July 10 to answer the charge.
