Man arrested for theft in Rutland

RUTLAND — A 32-year-old man was arrested for theft in Rutland yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a retail theft from Dicks Sporting Goods on US Route 7 south at around 8:10 p.m.

Police say the alleged offender left the scene in a vehicle.

Prior to arrival, police were notified members from the Pittsford Police Department were in contact with the unidentified man and vehicle in the city of Rutland.

Police say Adam Hornbeck had stolen merchandise from Dicks Sporting Goods and had fled from officers of the Pittsford Police Department prior to the theft.

Hornbeck was taken into custody and transported to the Rutland barracks for processing.

He was given a citation for the charges of retail theft and unlawful trespass and released to the custody of the Pittsford Police Department.
