Body found in Merrimack River identified as missing Nashua man

NASHUA — Authorities have identified the body discovered in the Merrimack River on April 13 as that of Victor Varela Colindres, a 24-year-old man who was reported missing to the Nashua Police Department in January 2023.

The Nashua Police Department responded to the report of a body in the Merrimack River on the morning of April 13.

A witness on a boat told police he believed there was a body face down in the river.

Responding officers were able to determine that the person was deceased and removed the body from the river.

Detectives were notified and furthered the investigation. Through extensive efforts by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and investigation by detectives, the person was identified as Victor Varela Colindres.

At this time, the death does not appear suspicious in nature.
