Barnstead police arrest man who pointed gun in victim’s face after running them off road

BARNSTEAD — A 60-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Barnstead on Friday.

Authorities say they were notified of a man driving a truck in the area of Varney Road who had reportedly chased a victim on an ATV, striking the victim’s ATV and driving him off the road.

Police say the man allegedly pointed a handgun in the victim’s face threatening to shoot him and his dog.

The victim received a minor laceration during the incident.

Police say the man ran into the woods but was quickly apprehended after a search of the area by Barnstead and Pittsfield officers.

The man was found to be wearing an ankle monitor and on probation having previously been arrested last year by the Barnstead Police at which time he shot at two women in a vehicle striking their car with the bullet.

He was arrested and brought to the Barnstead Police Department where he was booked before being transported to the Belknap County Jail.
