Hit-and-run in Bennington leads to DUI #3 charges

SHAFTSBURY — A 35-year-old man was arrested for his third DUI following an incident in Shaftsbury yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified that a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run in Bennington was observed on West Mountain Road at around 11:50 p.m.

State Police located the vehicle traveling on Myers Road.

While attempting to catch up to the vehicle, it stopped at a nearby home on Reddy Road.

The driver was identified as Lawrence Dunn Jr., of Shaftsbury.

While interacting with Dunn, police say he displayed indicators of impairment and was arrested for DUI #3.

Dunn was processed at the Shaftsbury State Police barracks and released with a citation to appear in court on May 1.

He was also issued a citation for leaving the scene of a crash on behalf of the Bennington Police Department.
