Man arrested for domestic violence, threats in Nashua

NASHUA — A 57-year-old man from Virginia was arrested following an incident in Nashua yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a domestic violence-related call involving Ian Hawes, of Alexandria, Virginia, and an adult woman known to him.

It had been reported that Hawes had spoken to the victim on the phone and threatened to kill her.

He furthered told her that he was in New York and was on his way to New Hampshire.

Police say Hawes’s vehicle was located in the area of Spit Brook Road, however fled from police after officers attempted to conduct a motor vehicle stop.

He was later located and placed under arrest and charged with domestic violence criminal threatening, a class B felony, stalking, and disobeying an officer, both class A misdemeanors.

The investigation was furthered by detectives from the Special Investigations Division and it was learned Hawes crossed through several states after threatening to shoot the victim.

A class B felony is punishable up to 7 years in state prison, exclusive of fines.

A class A misdemeanor is punishable up to 1 year in the Hillsborough County House of Corrections, exclusive of fines.

Hawes refused bail and was held pending his arraignment at the Hillsborough County Superior Court-South.
