Man found dead at Parro’s Gun Shop in Waterbury

WATERBURY — Police are investigating the death of a man who was found dead in Waterbury.

Authorities were notified of a self-inflicted gun-shot wound at Parro’s Gun Shop and Police Supply on US Route 2 at around 7:45 p.m. on April 8.

Waterbury Ambulance Service responded, along with Barre Town EMS and the man was pronounced deceased.

Police say that a 24-year-old man from California, who was temporarily living in Vermont, traveled to Parro’s and rented a firearm, purchased ammunition, and 1-hour of range time for target shooting.

After approximately 40 minutes of target shooting, the man suffered an intentional self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police say the incident was captured on security footage.
