Juvenile charged after fleeing police, crash in Stowe

STOWE — A 17-year-old from Burlington was arrested following a crash in Stowe this morning.

Police say they observed a vehicle traveling 96 miles-per-hour in a posted 40 miles-per-hour zone on Vermont Route 100, near the intersection with Stagecoach Road, at around 5:35 a.m.

Police say they attempted to initiate a motor vehicle stop with the vehicle but it failed to yield.

The vehicle crashed several hundred feet north of the Stagecoach Road intersection.

Following the crash, the driver exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

Police say the driver was later located and identified as a juvenile.

During the course of the roadside investigation indicators of impairment were observed.

The driver was taken into custody and transported to the Stowe Police Department for processing.

Police say nobody was injured during the incident.
