Driver arrested on warrant, doing 114 mph in Fairfax

FAIRFAX — A 18-year-old man from Essex was arrested following an incident in Fairfax today.

Police say they were conducting speed enforcement on I-89 north at around 6:45 p.m.

The speed limit on this section of Interstate 89 is 65 miles-per-hour.

Police say they observed a vehicle traveling 114 miles-per-hour, which is 49 miles-per-hour above the posted speed limit.

The vehicle was stopped without incident and the driver was identified as Nick Morgan.

It was found that Morgan had an active warrant for his arrest out of Chittenden County as well as operating under civil suspension.

He was issued a VCVC for driving with a suspended license and was issued a citation to appear in court for the offense of negligent operation as well as Chittenden County Superior Court tomorrow
