Man arrested in Cavendish for possession of handgun, stolen vehicle fentanyl

CAVENDISH — A 35-year-old man was arrested following an incident in Cavendish yesterday.

Authorities say they were notified of a suspicious man on High Street at around 11:40 a.m.

Police say they identified the man as Mitchell J. Horton, of Cavendish.

Following an investigation, police say that Horton was in possession of a stolen vehicle.

He was taken into custody where it was found that he was armed with a loaded handgun and in possession of what was suspected to be Fentanyl.

He was transported to the Vermont State Police Westminster barracks for processing and held on $20,000 bail.

He was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility and is scheduled to appear in court today to answer to the charges of possessing a deadly weapon while committing a crime, aggravated operation without consent of owner, violation of conditions of release X2, possession of a regulated substance.
