Man arrested after calling police, assaulting officer in Fair Haven

FAIR HAVEN — A 51-year-old man was arrested in Fair Haven.

Police say they arrested John M. Partch, of Fair Haven, following a welfare check.

On January 17, police were called to Washington Street after Partch called 911 numerous times.

Upon arrival, police say Partch told them that he was cold and had nowhere to go.

Police offered to transport him to his hotel room in Rutland, which he agreed.

While enroute to the Rutland, police say Partch attempted to exit the patrol car while moving.

Partch then assaulted the police officer causing injury and started ripping the emergency equipment out of the patrol car.

Police say the officer was able to pull over and place Partch in restraints.

Partch also made threats to blow up the police station.

He was transported to RRMC for evaluation.

The officer was later treated for injuries.

He was arrested and released to appear in court to answer to the charge of assault of a police officer.
