Driver seriously injured during crash in Marshfield

MARSHFIELD — A 26-year-old man from Burlington was involved in a crash in Marshfield today.

The two-vehicle crash took place on US Route 2, near the Martin Bridge, at around 12:45 p.m.

According to the report, Dakota Oberg, 26, of Burlington, crossed the center line into the oncoming lane and crashed head-on with William Gillard, 74, of Keene, NH.

Police say the crash caused serious damage to both vehicles.

Oberg was the sole occupant of one vehicle.

The second vehicle was occupied by Gillard, his wife Nancy, and two of their grandchildren.

Police say Oberg sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

William sustained serious injuries, and his wife sustained life-threatening injuries.

Police say the two juveniles were not injured.

Route 2 was closed in the area of the crash for around three hours.

Oberg was issued a citation for negligent operation, serious bodily injury resulting, and ordered to appear in court on a later date.
