POWNAL — A 42-year-old woman from Massachusetts was injured during a single-vehicle crash in Pownal earlier this month.

The crash took place on US Route 7, just north of Armstrong Farm, at around 6:30 p.m.on March 2.

According to the report, Debby J. Lampiasi, of North Adams, MA, was traveling north on US Route 7, when she lost control of the vehicle due to ice on the road, and traveled off the road into an embankment.

Police say the vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest and sustained heavy front-end damage from the collision.

Further investigation revealed that Lampiasi’s summer tires were bald and had no traction, which caused her to lose control on ice, and to veer off the road at approximately 50 miles-per-hour into an embankment.

She was evaluated on scene for minor injuries and was transported to Southern Vermont Medical Center.

State Police were assisted by the Pownal Rescue Squad and the Pownal Fire Department.

The vehicle was removed by All Service Towing of Bennington.
