Wrong way driver arrested for DUI in Rutland

RUTLAND — David Alvarez Reyes, a 35-year-old resident of Methuen, MA, was arrested for driving under the influence in Rutland on Sunday.

The Vermont State Police received a complaint of a vehicle traveling in the wrong direction on US 7 in the Clarendon area.

Troopers located the vehicle, driven by Reyes, heading towards Rutland City and made a traffic stop in the Cumberland Farms parking lot on South Main Street.

During the stop, troopers detected signs of impairment and conducted a DUI screening.

Reyes was subsequently arrested for DUI and taken into custody.

He was processed for DUI and later released.

He is scheduled to appear in court on a later date to face the charges.

The Vermont State Police remind drivers to always drive sober and never get behind the wheel if they have been drinking.
