Teen using cell phone causes two-vehicle crash in Jericho

JERICHO — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in Jericho yesterday.

The crash took place on Vermont Route 15, near Raceway Road, at around 3:50 p.m.

According to the report, there were no injuries as a result of the crash, but both vehicles sustained disabling damage.

Following an investigation, police say that a juvenile crossed the center line while using a cellular device causing his vehicle to strike another vehicle that was traveling in the opposite direction.

Both vehicles were towed from the scene and the driver was issued a ticket for using a portable electronic device.

The area of Vermont Route 15 and Raceway Road was temporarily shut down to one lane of traffic while vehicles were removed from the scene.

Troopers were assisted on the scene by the Underhill-Jericho Fire Department, Ron Bushey Auto, and Mike Bushey Auto.
