MONTPELIER — A Barre man is facing charges following a single-vehicle accident in Montpelier last month.

Authorities say they were notified of a vehicle that had crashed into an embankment on the bike path just off of Barre Street at Gin Lane at around 12:50 a.m. on Feb. 22.

Police say the vehicle was found to be unoccupied with the driver having fled the scene when they arrived.

An investigation revealed probable cause that the driver, Gregory Ward, 24, of Barre, was the driver.

He was later arrested by police.

He is being charged with leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a criminally suspended license.
