Police respond to school shooting threat in Claremont

CLAREMONT — Police are investigating after a call of a school shooting was made in Claremont today.

Authorities were notified by a man stating he was about to commit a school shooting at the Claremont Middle School at around 9:40 a.m.

In the background, the dispatcher was able to hear gunfire.

Police quickly responded to the scene and determined that it was a hoax.

The NH Intelligence Center was quickly notified so they could update law enforcement partners around the state.

Since then, police say several other agencies have received a similar call.

Claremont Police were assisted by the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office, Claremont Fire Department, and Golden Cross Ambulance.
