2 injured during I-89 crash in Waterbury

WATERBURY — A 31-year-old man from California was involved in a single-vehicle crash in Waterbury today.

The crash took place on I-89 at around 3:15 p.m.

According to the report, Viktor Alshevkii, of Los Angeles, was traveling south before losing control of his vehicle.

The front of the vehicle collided with a rock formation in the median.

Police say the vehicle then came to uncontrolled rest on its side in the passing lane.

Alshevkii and his passenger were transported to Central Vermont Medical Center by Waterbury Ambulance Service.

Police say both sustained chest and torso injuries.

Traffic on I-89 was delayed for approximately two hours while crews worked to clear the scene.
