Burnout at Waterbury intersection leads to DUI arrest

WATERBURY — A 38-year-old man from Massachusetts was arrested for DUI refusal following a crash in Waterbury yesterday.

The crash took place at the intersection of Vermont Route 100 and the exit 10 southbound off-ramp at around 9:15 p.m.

Police say they observed a truck stopped at a red light when the light turned green, it took off at a high rate of speed spinning its tires and conducting a “burnout” at the light.

Police initiated a traffic stop for the violation.

While speaking with Levi H. Jones, of Norton, MA, indicators of impairment were detected.

Jones was taken into custody for suspicion of DUI and transported to the State Police barracks in Berlin for processing.

He was issued a citation to appear in court and released.
