Man stabbed 10 times at Montpelier Transit Center

MONTPELIER — A 38-year-old man was stabbed 10 times in Montpelier on Monday.

Authorities were notified of a stabbing at the Montpelier Transit Center at around 8:25 p.m.

The victim was stabbed multiple times and was immediately transferred to the Central Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

The victim was identified as Gabriel Deangelis, of Montpelier.

Deangelis was working for the Good Samaritan Haven, which was operating the warming shelter inside the Montpelier Transit Center at the time of this incident.

He was stabbed ten times and suffered significant injuries as a result of this incident.

The suspect was identified as Aydan Jestice, 18, of Marshfield.

With the assistance of Barre City Police and Vermont State Police, Jestice was located and arrested at around 10:30 p.m.

Police say Jestice was in the presence of a 15-year-old runaway at the time of the stabbing and the time of his arrest.

Officers applied for and executed a search warrant on Jestice’s backpack and located the suspected knife and the clothing Jestice was wearing at the time of the encounter.

Jestice was held on $50,000 bail and lodged at the Northeast Correctional Center pending arraignment on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, and disorderly conduct.
