DEERING — A man is facing multiple charges following an incident that took place in Deering on Sunday.

Police say they initiated a low-speed pursuit of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado operated by Thomas Finneral Jr.

Police say they believed the driver was driving impaired and was actively restricting the female passenger from exiting the pickup truck.

At one point, police say Finneral intentionally swerved and struck a Weare Police cruiser causing damage to the driver’s side.

Spike strips were deployed to stop the vehicle.

He was taken into custody without further incident and none of the involved parties sustained any injuries.

He was transported to the Hillsboro Police Department where he was formally charged with the vehicular assault, disobeying an officer, reckless conduct with deadly weapon, kidnapping, criminal restraint, criminal mischief, alcohol ignition interlock circumvention, reckless operation, and operating as a habitual offender.

He was held at the Hillsborough County Department of Corrections and is due in court today.
