PETERBOROUGH — A 28-year-old man from New Hampshire was arrested following an incident in Peterborough on Thursday.

Authorities say they were notified of a man with a handgun inside the Monadnock Community Hospital at around 1:00 p.m.

Within a couple of minutes, two Peterborough officers arrived and located the man in a waiting room.

When officers confronted the man, police say he had his hand on the gun, began yelling at the officers, and refused to let go or surrender the firearm.

In an attempt to disarm the man, a short struggle ensued at which point one officer deployed a taser.

The man was then taken into custody and walked to the Emergency Room for a medical evaluation.

Police say he was charged with reckless conduct with a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

He was released on personal recognizance and is scheduled to appear in court on February 28.
