Two arrested in Montpelier

MONTPELIER — Police say two people were arrested following an incident in Montpelier on New Year Eve.

Police say they initiated a traffic stop on Hill Street at around 10:05 p.m.

The driver was determined to have court-ordered conditions of release establishing a curfew at their residence.

Police say the passenger in the vehicle was found to have an arrest warrant for failing to appear in court for a previous criminal charge.

The suspects have not been named at this time, but police say the man arrested on the warrant was from Montpelier is 28-years-old.

The passenger was a 32-year-old woman from Barre City.

Both were taken into custody on the arrest warrant and transported to a correctional facility by the Washington County Sheriff’s Department.
