Man arrested for stabbing two people in Manchester

MANCHESTER — A 35-year-old man was arrested for assault following a fight in Manchester on December 31, 2022.

Authorities say they were notified of a fight in the area of Manchester and Pine Street at around 6:45 a.m.

Following an investigation, police say that a small group of people started to fight just west of that intersection.

The fight broke up briefly and the individuals continued to walk toward the intersection of Manchester and Chestnut Street.

Investigators say at this point, more people joined the group and the fight resumed.

During the course of the altercation, someone pulled out a knife and injured two people.

Police say neither injury was life-threatening.

The man with the knife was later identified as Charles Dexter, of Manchester.

Dexter was charged with two counts of first-degree assault, felon in possession of a deadly weapon, falsifying physical evidence, and riot charges.

He will be arraigned today in Hillsborough Superior Court.
