NORTHFIELD — A 36-year-old woman was arrested in Northfield on Wednesday.

Police say Shelby Chicoine, of Northfield, is being charged with DUI, assault on a police officer, careless and negligence, and resisting arrest.

Police say they spoke to Chicoine, who was responsible for a collision, and observed the odor of intoxicants on her breath.

Chicoine admitted to having drunk the night prior, but refused sobriety tests and preliminary breath test.

Police say they attempted to take Chicoine into custody, but she refused to follow directions and stuck her hand in her pocket.

After receiving assistance from EMS personnel, Chicoine was handcuffed, and upon being put into the back of the cruiser, she kicked at both the Northfield EMS and Northfield Police Officers, attempting to hit them.

She was taken into custody and processed at the Northfield Police Department and later issued a citation to appear in court on January 5.
