Two-vehicle crash on I-89 in South Burlington

SOUTH BURLINGTON — Police responded to a two-vehicle crash in South Burlington yesterday.

The crash took place on I-89 north at around 3:50 p.m.

According to the report, Douglas Brassard, 53, of Colchester, was traveling in the passing lane when traffic began to slow, causing him to stop.

A second vehicle which was also in the passing lane, rear-ended him as he stopped due to traffic ahead.

Alan Gonyo, 25, of Ellenburg Depot, NY, told police that he didn’t noticed Brassard had stopped in front of him until it was too late to avoid the collision.

Once impact happened Gonyo managed to bring his vehicle off to the shoulder.

Police say both drivers sustained no injuries and provided no signs of impairment.

Both vehicles were removed by Handy’s & Spillaines.

Troopers were assisted by the Chittenden County Sheriff’s Department and South Burlington Fire Department.
