BENNINGTON — A 40-year-old man from New York was cited following an incident in Bennington.

On September 27, authorities were notified that Richard N. Blackmer Jr., of White Creek, NY, violated his conditions of release by entering into a business contract of more than $500 without the Bennington Criminal Court’s approval.

Police say Richard was issued conditions of release stemming from over several dozen charges of false pretense and bad checks.

In March 2021, Richard agreed to sell hay and other farm equipment and was also contracted to complete several renovations to the home, police say.

Police say Blackmer was paid approximately $93,000 for the hay, equipment, and repairs.

He still owes several thousand dollars’ worth of hay and many of the repairs were not completed.

Blackmer did not seek approval from the Bennington Criminal Court to enter into any contracts since his conditions were issued.

He was issued a criminal citation to appear in court on December 19.
