SWANTON — A 36-year-old man was cited following an incident in Swanton on Saturday.

Authorities say they were notified of a motor vehicle crash with possible injury on Vermont Route 78, in the area of Louie’s Landing, at around 1:20 p.m.

Upon arrival, police say they found Adam Mashtare, 36, of Swanton, being transported by EMS to NMC.

Mark Bigelow, 58, of Georgia, and witnesses on the scene told police that Mashtare was traveling east toward Swanton Village on Vermont Route 78, stopped, then attempted to turn left into Louie’s Landing in front of Bigelow.

Bigelow was traveling west and was unable to stop or avoid the collision, police say.

Both vehicles sustained front-end damage and were removed from the scene by Cota’s Towing.

Troopers met with Mashtare at NMC.

His license was found to be criminally suspended and was also suspected to be under the influence of alcohol.

He was transported to the Vermont State Police St. Albans barracks for processing and subsequently released on a citation for DUI and DLS.
