Police: Driver charged after racing another vehicle, crashing in Williston

WILLISTON — A 74-year-old man from Waterbury was cited for grossly negligent operation following a crash in Williston last month.

On September 21, authorities were notified of a crash on I-89 at around 12:20 p.m.

While en route to the scene, troopers were advised that one of the vehicles had fled the scene.

The driver at the scene was identified as Earl F. Greer, 74, of Waterbury.

Greer was transported to The University of Vermont Medical Center for significant injuries and was later released.

Police say Greer was racing a vehicle and traveling at 113 miles-per-hour in the posted 65 miles-per-hour zone.

He was unable to control his vehicle and crashed.

He was cited to appear in court.
