Driver charged with DUI after three-vehicle crash in Ryegate

RYEGATE — A 43-year-old woman from St. Johnsbury was arrested for DUI refusal following a crash in Ryegate yesterday.

The three-vehicle crash took place on I-91 at around 5:55 p.m.

According to the report, the driver attempted to change lanes, then hit another vehicle.

The third vehicle crashed into the initial crash scene.

While speaking with the driver responsible for the crash, identified as Erika Sumner, police say they observed several signs of impairment.

After sobriety tests, Sumner was arrested for suspicion of DUI.

She was transported to the Bradford Outpost for processing.

At the conclusion of processing, Sumner was released to a sober adult and issued a citation to appear in court.
